Connectivity & Interoperability

Whether you are in a solo practice or in a large clinic, MedcomSoft Record universal interface engine allows you to communicate and easily integrate with existing internal or external systems while supporting virtually all standard data exchange. This includes electronic billing data exchange such as claim submission, eligibility checking and electronic remittance with clearinghouses and payers, e-prescribing and prescription requests to pharmacies, and electronic lab orders and results with laboratories and diagnostic facilities, as well as feeding information to clinical data repositories, and connecting directly to patients through the patient portal. Access to the system can be done from inside the clinic, or from remote locations through secure, remote-access technology.

The interface engine also allows you to exchange patient demographic and billing information with practice management and scheduling systems. Other exchange can include orders and results or full patient charts with other healthcare providers. MedcomSoft Record includes several features for automatic routing of orders or correspondence to faxes or email.

The MedcomSoft interface engine is a customizable interface engine designed to extend the architecture of MedcomSoft Record. By supporting virtually all standard data exchange formats and protocols, it seamlessly integrates with virtually any practice management system, hospital, lab, pharmacy, data repository, clearinghouse, health benefit payer, or health organization. Healthcare providers can now leverage existing investments in technology by integrating them with MedcomSoft Record.

The interface engine natively supports a growing number of Practice Management Systems, data exchange partner types (clearinghouses, insurances, pharmacies, labs etc.), and messaging standards (including ANSI X12N, ASTM CCR, HL7 and NCPDP [Surescripts]) and makes integration a quick and easy process due to its automated installation process.

The MedcomSoft Record universal lab interface enables providers to transmit and receive lab orders and results with certified facilities, greatly reducing manual data entry and improving office efficiency. Auto-mapping of lab results to the embedded medical vocabulary presents results in the most accurate and recognizable format to physicians. Lab results are automatically integrated into the patient record and seamlessly mapped to the clinical medical vocabulary leveraging the MedcomSoft Record disease management and decision support tools to ensure optimized patient care.

The following practice management systems are currently supported, with more being added as our customers request new interfaces:

  • IDX
  • KMS
  • MD Office
  • Medical Manager
  • Medisoft
  • Medstar
  • Millbrook

MedcomSoft Record also supports a variety of other customized interface messaging systems for both practice management and clinical functions, and are constantly enhancing the communication module and standards supported as new messaging standards emerge, and existing standards are updated. Through the MedcomSoft Patient Portal, clinics can connect with their patients for a variety of reasons, such as appointment requests, medication renewals, referral requests, patient chart viewing, health maintenance alerts and more. As well, MedcomSoft Record inherently communicates with the MedcomSoft Clinical Data Repository in order to upload intelligent codified clinical data for data mining clinical trials and the like.
