The MSV saw a gap in service and technology for the smaller physician practices across the state of Virginia. One of the principle goals of the EMR coalition to serve as an educator in establishing common ground in developing guidelines on EMR systems functionality around ARRA’s Meaningful Use mandates from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Rich Lobb, Medcomsoft’s Director of Operations stated, “I see this as an opportunity to link the federal mandates of meaningful use to practical use to the EMR for physicians.” The MSV is holding a fall Healthcare Information Technology Conference where MedcomSoft and other companies will participate. It is the Societies goal to market the conference within Virginia and bordering states to gain as much participation from physicians as possible. There will be special attention focused on the EMR, it’s benefits for physicians and educating physicians on expectations that will be in the form of presentations by MedcomSoft and others during the conference.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has set a timeline and established payment incentives for implementation and meaningful use of an EMR solution for physicians and hospitals. For those providers who do not have an EMR solution implemented by 2015, Medicare will begin reducing their payments for services.
Mr. Long indicates that MedcomSoft Record™ meets federal meaningful use requirements that exist today and the unit cost of entry and ongoing use of MedcomSoft is low compared to other EMR products on the market. The new application is completely hosted which eliminates the need for significant upfront investment in computer hardware and servers which is often the main reason that providers cite as a barrier to implementation of an EMR. MedcomSoft Record™ also supports interfaces with clinical equipment that provides output by making it a part of a patient's medical record.
"The company is growing rapidly but strives to keep the cost of sales and overhead low." In January alone we have added additional employees and expect to add between 20 and 30 more this year to support our growth" states Mr. Long. The Company also offers complete medical billing and practice management services.
