EMR Security

MedcomSoft Record utilizes advanced technology to ensure maximum data integrity and security geared specifically to multi-user, enterprise-level, and wide-area implementation environments. In such settings, security, reliability and data control are critical, and as such, MedcomSoft has developed sophisticated exclusive record locking and protection mechanisms. The system will allow multiple users to view specific data (such as a patient encounter) concurrently, provided that security access rights allow clearance; however, only a single user at a time is allowed to modify or update any such records. These rules are also in place for areas in which data affects other data, thereby protecting from data infringement. MedcomSoft Record users can be confident and relieved in knowing that patient and financial information is safe, protected, reliable and secure at all times.

Security of patient electronic medical records has become imperative to healthcare providers. MedcomSoft Record includes security at 3 different levels of the product.

Level 1: Enterprise Wide

Record includes a robust, enterprise-level security system to meet the requirements of virtually any healthcare facility. These advanced security settings combined with secure user authentication, customizable auto-locks, clinical data-locking, audit logs, and automatic daily back-up ensure that practices meet and exceed current HIPAA regulation and compliance requirements. In addition, MedcomSoft Record has been designed to accommodate fingerprint biometric access.

Level 2: Activity Level Security

The system security enables fine granular definition of user rights by group, by practice, by module and by function. The system will only give access to a module or to a button within a module based on that user's role in the office and that user's rights within that role.

Level 3: Data Element Level Security

MedcomSoft Record has developed the unique ability to provide security in the patient chart to individual clinical findings. This feature allows clinicians to flag symptoms, physical findings, and diagnoses as private, mental health or emergency. This allows the patient to be comfortable discussing sensitive health matters knowing that their privacy is protected. If information is flagged with one of these options, it will only be viewable in certain circumstances. Private information is ONLY viewable by the primary physician. Mental information is only viewable by the primary physician and is related to the patient's mental health. Emergency information is only able to be viewed in an emergency situation by the treating clinician.
